Mid Frequency Direct Current (MFDC) Resistance Source
Current and Welding times are controlled by thyristors in AC source systems. Phase shifts and space currents are inevitable. This situation may negatively impact the welding quality and may cause burrs. The burr situation does not only affect the welding quality negatively, but also wastes energy.

MFDC units act as an inverter and converts the feeding voltage into a high frequency, 2 polarity square wave. The current generated regardless of the phase variability is then transferred to the transformer. The voltage fixed by the diodes in the transformer is reduced to 9 V level, creating high voltage. Since the result is nearly in a rectangular curve, a more efficient welding is achieved when compared to the AC systems. Voltage times can be adjusted in milliseconds in MFDC systems.
